    On 15 June 2017 the Central Asia Drug Action Programme’s (CADAP) representatives met with Mr. Taalaybek Zhaparov, the Chairman of the State Service on Execution of Punishments under the government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The parties discussed the preparations for the construction of the "Clean zone" for convicted women in the women's correctional institution No. 2, where it is planned to support and rehabilitate those who made a choice to quit drug use.

    For the first time, the Central Asia Drug Action Programme Phase 6 (CADAP 6) sets out proposals for reviewing and supporting the development of strategies, action plans and legislations employing European good practices. The Trimbos-instituute incorporates a balanced policy approach with the latest developments and achievements in the field of drug demand reduction and other drug-related policy forms (including new approaches supported by CADAPs’ previous phases) and overarches the actions covered by the other components, namely national focal points, drug use prevention mechanisms, prevention campaigns, treatment methodologies and social/street work. Trimbos’ strategy follows an integrated and plural approach to drug policy by inter-agency coordination, trans-regional and international cooperation.

    During meetings in Tokmok and Bishkek experts from Poland met with national experts, teachers of local schools responsible for the drug prevention programme implementation, local authorities of Tokmok City, and local departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Education.

    Two German experts conducted a two-day training workshop for fourteen medical workers of the penitentiary system from Dushanbe, Kujand, Kurgantube cities and Vahdat district. A representative of „SPIN Plus” NGO also took part in the training.

    Twenty-five drug epidemiology and drug situation monitoring experts from five Central Asian countries gathered to discuss the current national drug situation and trends, and methodologies and examples of evaluation studies in drug policy interventions. They also planned next steps and activities at the national and regional level.
